Jacob Gamble, Principal at Cowen Partners Executive Search, was featured in the most recent Modus newsletter discussing how recent layoffs at Cambridge Associates could present a unique hiring opportunity for family offices.
Drawing on his deep experience recruiting investment and operational talent for family offices, Gamble noted that mid-level consultants and analysts exiting Cambridge bring highly sought-after skills in manager research, risk oversight, and governance discipline—capabilities that can strengthen the investment infrastructure of family offices.
However, he cautioned that success in these environments depends as much on mindset as on technical expertise.
“Success in a family office often has less to do with pedigree and more to do with attitude. These are lean teams where everyone rolls up their sleeves,” Gamble explained.
