      The Need 

      ETR (Enterprise Technology Research) needed a General Counsel to support their enterprise sales team in negotiations with some of the world’s largest technology companies, be a data privacy compliance and regulatory planning subject matter expert, and a strategic business partner to the CEO and Board.

      Cowen Partners met with each of the department heads who would be interfacing with the future general counsel; sales, operations, research, and the CEO, to profile their ideal candidate. In three weeks, over the holidays no less, we assembled a shortlist of AM Law 100 “white-shoe” experienced general counsels for their consideration.

      Candidates were matched for personality and cultural fit. All were experienced corporate attorneys who had proven industry experience in a client-facing capacity supporting a sales team, drafting complex commercial contracts such as MSAs, SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, and NDAs, in a regulated industry.
